Sweden appoints Special Investigator to strengthen Jewish life

EJP member in Sweden Benny Rung reported of a substantial improvement in the life no only of Jewish community but for the whole Swedish society: the Swedish government has appointed Maria Arnholm as a special investigator to strengthen Jewish life in Sweden. The assignment includes mapping obstacles and opportunities, as well as making proposals for a national strategy.

The investigation is part of the Government’s work to protect the rights of national minorities in Sweden. These include, among other things, the language, culture and influence of the minorities.

The focus of the investigation is the transmission of Jewish culture and Yiddish to younger and future generations. The work will take place in close dialogue and collaboration with the Jewish minority in Sweden.
