Julia Itin holds a double M.A. in Jewish Studies and pedagogy from Heidelberg University and is a research and teaching assistant at the Oriental Department of the Halle-Wittenberg University. She is currently finishing her PhD on Jewish memory and narrative of the Black Death. Julia has volunteered both within and outside the Jewish community in Germany.
She was for last three years the program director of Limmud.de, the biggest cross-communal, multigenerational, volunteer-led Jewish learning event in Germany. Born in Odessa and growing up in Germany, Julia get involved with numerous Jewishvolunteers and their grass root initiatives in Western and Middle Europe, what her next project will be about.
