European Jewish Parliament is delighted at the news of the hostages’ release in synagogue, Texas

European Jewish Parliament is relieved at the news of the hostages getting safe after a more than 10-hour standoff.

A group of four people, including the rabbi, were taken hostage at about 10:41 a.m. Saturday at Congregation Beth Israel, a Reform synagogue in the city of Colleyville, about 30 miles northwest of Dallas.

The hostages were being held by a man demanding the release of a federal prisoner being held in North Texas who was convicted in 2010 of attempted murder in a terrorism-related case

This episode is an act of the terror in which the Jewish community was targeted.

This case clearly shows the need of al international organisations to work on fighting Anti Semitism and banishing all sorts of hatred. Building tolerance is a vital part not only of a democratic but also of a healthy society.

“Such actions are wicked and directly show the areas we need to deeper address our attention as international organisations. We will stand against antisemitism and against the rise of extremism in the world,”- EJP Chairman said.
