EJP Chairman Vadim Rabinovich attended the Fifth World Holocaust Forum and a special ceremony to inaugurate the Memorial Candle Monument

EJP Chairman Vadim Rabinovich attended in Jerusalem, Israel,  the Fifth World Holocaust Forum, entitled “Remembering the Holocaust, Fighting Antisemitism” and a special ceremony to inaugurate the Memorial Candle Monument, which is dedicated to the heroic defenders and fighters in Leningrad during World War II.

The Chairman stressed the phenomenal scope of the events: ” 49 Presidents, 6 kings – that was truly the most fundamental event Israel had ever hosted, very deep statements aimed at making us rethink the events of the past years. The politics was set aside, leaders were talking about future aims for the whole nations. It was a clear message that the world leaders are seeking to have common shared values. This Holocaust remembrance is our shared responsibility to the past and the future.”

Vadim Rainovich also met with President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Mikhail Mirilashvili at the ceremony to inaugurate the Memorial Candle Monument.

The project was funded by the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC), Viktor Vekselberg, the Jewish National Fund – Keren Kayemet LeIsrael and the Israeli Keren Hayesod foundation. The installation of the monument was backed by the city governments of St. Petersburg and Jerusalem.
