Alexander Baron “International Dialogue: Through the history of the Jewish community”

Through the history of the Jewish community, Alexander Baron told a representative of the US State Department about the Jewish community in Kazakhstan.
The head of the Jewish community of Kazakhstan – Chairman of the Council of the Mitsva Association, member of the European Jewish Parliament Alexander Baron and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor of the US Department of State Kara McDonald held an online meeting.


During the dialogue, topics of history and modernity of the Jewish community were discussed. Alexander Baron noted that on the example of the Jewish community, as well as on the examples of all communities in the country, can be studied through the history of the unity of the people of Kazakhstan.
The head of the Mitsva Association spoke about how historically the land of Kazakhstan has become a crossroads of cultures. Since the Middle Ages, representatives of different ethnic groups, including Jews, have come to the territory of modern Kazakhstan along with the caravans of the Great Silk Road.


Alexander Baron told Mrs. MacDonald about the international historical scientific-practical conference “History. Memory. People “, dedicated to the theme of evacuation to Kazakhstan during the Second World War. The head of the Jewish community emphasized the uniqueness of the long-term research forum: the history of the evacuation is presented through living testimonies of front-line soldiers, home front workers, and their descendants. At the same time, he added that the Mitsva Association is carrying out this project jointly with the Archives of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, and the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan.
Moving on to the topic of modernity, the head of the Mitsva Association told Ms. MacDonald about the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. Founded in 1995 by the First Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, all these years it has served as a unique institution of peace and harmony.

All these years, the united people of Kazakhstan have lived in peace and harmony. Unity, as the head of the Jewish community emphasized, is the foundation for building the future.
