A Holocaust Memorial desecrated in Greece

A Holocaust Memorial  in the central Greek city of Trikala was desecrated several days ago.

EJP members are deeply concerned with the growing wave of antisemitic acts sleeping Greece.

The local Jewish community, which discovered the desecration a few days ago, approached the police and a comprehensive investigation was launched to locate the perpetrators of the antisemitic act.

The monument was erected just four months ago in memory of the city’s fifty Jews who were deported to Auschwitz during the Holocaust, where they perished.

This is not the first time that the monument has been desecrated with graffiti. In October last year, the Jewish cemetery in the city was also desecrated by vandals in an act of antisemitism.

The vandals destroyed eight tombs and tombstones, among which were two graves belonging to parents of the city’s Jewish community president.
